Volunteer Opportunities
Beyond financial sponsorship, mentorship recruitment is a large part of team sustainability and growth. 1640 is currently directed by 10 generous volunteer mentors of all different ages and backgrounds. Over the years, these gracious professionals have guided the team and its students to success in every aspect of the building process. Mentorship is an incredible opportunity for professional volunteering.
Mentor Needs / Position
Role
Programming
Work with the students to program the robot for competition, both in Java and JavaScript.
Mechanical/ Electrical
Help the students build a robot for the competition.
Graphic Design
Creating banners, logos, team handouts, and t-shirts for competitions including designing and maintaining the website
CAD
Teach students on the team how to CAD, utilizing tools such as 3D-Printer and CNC routers
Marketing
Assist with team marketing, finding sponsors, and creating a team business plan
Outreach
Help students coordinate outreach events and present their work for awards at competitions
